Start the year off on the right foot with a First Day Hike at Lake Thunderbird. All hikers will meet at the Discovery Cove Nature Center at 1pm for either a relaxed, stroll along a paved trail or a more adventurous 2.5-mile jaunt through the woods.

Leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome. Be sure to bring along your camera, binoculars, water and appropriate dress for cold weather. After the journey, hikers can enjoy a healthy snack, bottled water, coffee and hot chocolate at the Nature Center.

The event is held in conjunction with the America's State Parks First Day Hikes initiative that will take place in all 50 states. First Day Hikes offer individuals and families the opportunity to begin the New Year connecting with the outdoors and staying active.
